This week in 4K we...

  • started our apple unit.
  • practiced the letter Aa and the number 1. The pink sheets that come home each week with directions do not have to come back to school. They are for your child to practice at home. 
  • worked on patterns for math. Ask your child to show you an AB pattern.
  • talked about how to be good friends in religion.
  • made some apple projects.
  • had Book Cooks. We made a delicious snack. YUM!
  • talked about Johnny Appleseed.
Next week we will...
  • go to Nieman Markets on Tuesday. If you offered to chaperone you are welcome to come. We have 5 volunteers. Please be at school by 9:30. The children are encouraged to bring boots to school to wear to the apple orchard. It might be wet and/or muddy.
  • continue our apple unit.
  • work on the letter Ll and the number 2.
  • go to the Book Fair.

This week in 4K we...

  • finished our color unit! We made many different projects that will be coming home soon. We hope you will enjoy all the wonderful projects.
  • had our tenth day of school. We started a Zero the Hero necklace. Every tenth day we will be adding to our necklaces.
  • practiced the number 0.
  • sang our ABC song.
  • practiced writing our name.
  • started our religion series.
  • celebrated the birthday of the ice cream cone. YUM!
Next week we will...
  • start our apple unit.
  • work with the letter Aa and the number 1.
  • have our first Book Cooks.
  • start patterns in math.
Starting Monday the children are back in uniform.
Next Friday we are having our first Book Cooks. Volunteers will come to school by 8:00. Please send one apple with your child any day next week. It doesn't matter if it is red or green. We will be using the apples for Book Cooks. If anyone has an apple peeler that we could use that day please send it to school on Friday. Thank you!

This week in 4K we...

  • continued our color unit.
  • made some more beautiful color projects. Made one big rainbow with our projects!
  • went to the Birthday Blessings Mass.
  • practiced writing our name correctly. Please keep practicing at home.
  • did a science experiment on orange and green day! We mixed colors together to make new colors!
  • listened to bible stories. 
Next week we will...
  • start our religion series. 
  • finish our color unit.
  • practice writing the number 0. A pink sheet will be sent home each week we do a number and/or letter of the week. Attached will be directions on how to form each number and letter. Please practice with your child. Theses sheets do not need to come back to school. 
Next Friday is Pizza Hut day. No hot lunch will be served that day. If you did not order your child Pizza Hut then you will need to send them to school with a cold lunch. Thank you!
Please return the Nieman Markets permission slip by Wednesday if you haven't done so already. If you said you could chaperone the field trip please be at school by 9:30. Thank you!

This week in 4K we...
  • had a great first week.
  • met new friends.
  • learned new routines and rules.
  • started our color unit.
  • went to Mass with our 4th grade buddies.
Next week we will...
  • continue the color unit.
  • make projects for each color day.
  • go to the Birthday Blessings Mass.
  • work on writing our names.
  • start with our behavior chart and reminders.  
The information below is what we didn't have time to cover during Parent Night.
  • Units we cover during the year - colors, shapes, apples, fire safety, families, Advent, Mexico, All About Me, dinosaurs, monkeys, transportation, farm, and holidays. If anyone would like to come in and talk about any of these topics please let us know.
  • Report cards are sent out twice a year for 4K. We have a different report card that we will explain at conferences.
  • Conferences are October 13.
  • June 9 - last day of school for all students. It is a half day.
  • On Sept. 15 you will be able to sign up to help out with a variety of needs for the classroom.

Welcome to 4K!
Each week there will be information posted on this blog about 4K. We will put information about what we did during the week and what is coming up. Important dates and things to remember will be placed here. We hope this will be helpful throughout the year.
